  • Since My Last Post

I found a house.  I made an offer.  Unless something goes terribly terribly wrong, I’ll close on the deal a week from tomorrow.  The boys and I are thrilled beyond description.  This house has the same number of square feet as the house we didn’t buy last year, but this house is costing us $50,000 less than the other house sold for.

Miss Eva has suffered a massive stroke.  I’m spending a lot of time at the hospital holding her hand, reading to her, and praying hard for her recovery.  I’m looking forward to getting into the house because I’m going to turn the one-car garage into a studio where the quilting mission will carry on.  We deliver the quilts to foster kids in March, July and November.  July will be here soon.

My imagination has been caught by an idea for a fantasy short-story.  I have a couple details to iron out but I’ve started writing again.  That feels really good.

The boys are as much themselves as ever.

  • Congratulations!  Pretty shower.  I love decorative tile.

  • @ordinarybutloud - Thanks!  When Tucker saw that bathroom he stopped dead in his tracks and said, “Mom!  There’s enough room in that tub for ALL my rubber ducks.”

  • congratulations! new homes are so exciting.

  • I love it, YOU LOVE it! Best best best of luck. It is beautiful and you all belong there. High five! Thank you for sharing your infectious enthusiasm! I totally needed that lift! YAY!

  • @quiltnmomi - He’s right.  That’s what my lovely new bathtub is used for, almost exclusively.  All these years I fantasized about a big, lovely, clean, warm bath…ah, well.  She has a great time in there.

  • Oh, my Goodness, that bathroom and kitchen.. Love the tile work!!   I’m so happy for you

  • Wow. That’s some nice tile work. I like it!

  • Delighted to hear the good news.  Good luck!

  • it’s beautiful! it’s perfect!!! wish i was there to help with the moving! are you going to iowa this summer?

  • @jerjonji - Hey Jeri!  I wish you were here to help with the moving too!    Actually several of the men from church have offered to help me so I’m not alone.  And (this is kind of cool) the house is currently being rented by a player on the Isotopes roster.  I mentioned to the selling agent as we were talking about the pain of moving that the most difficult thing for me to move is my bed, and the next thing I know, there are plans in place for three of the Isotopes guys to come over and take care of it.  In fact, she SAID, “They’ll be over on Wednesday” and I’m kind of hoping she didn’t mean today cause I’m not ready yet.

Can’t go to Iowa this year, all the money in the savings account is going to the house.  But NEXT year, I plan to be there (started to say ’come hell or high water’ decided not to after last year’s floods …)

  • Very nice! The bathroom looks really relaxing.

  • How EXCITING!  I love your new house!!!!  I’m so happy for you and your boys.

  • Wonderful news about the house.  By my reckoning, closing was Wednesday and you’ve been too busy to post.

I’m happy to see you’re still involved in the quilting project.  I tried to inspire some Vero Beachers to do something similar, but haven’t had time to follow through.

  • i’d redo that kitchen in yellow

  • Congrats! I suspect by now you are moved in and knee deep in decorating etc.

  • congratulations on the new house! i understand completely. i should be moving into mine within a month. yay for us!

  • Oh congratulation on the house. It has been a while since we talked. I have missed you. Judi

  • First…like the house.  Second:  I know your blog is nearly a year old, but found it when I was visiting cousin GrannyDee’s site.  I agree with your blog.  And I have been e-mailing my senators and reps, but the 2 senators just turn a deaf ear to what the people of Washington State are telling them, suggesting to them, etc.  If you are not of their party forget it.  Well come Nov 2010, one senator up for re-election……I will work hard to see that she gets her ‘pink slip’.  But the western part of the state is heavily populated and democratic, so that makes it hard for eastern Washington, which is mostly republican to have much say in what goes with our government.  But all actions of consequences and I thing for 2010 and beyond there will be big consequences coming down the pike that the American people will be most unhappy about.

    Time will tell.

  • House looks great!  I was thinking about you the other day… had breakfast at Mimi’s and I always think of you when I go there.  E-mail me if you like: cliopatra at gmail dot com.
