Usually, if I tell a story on this site, it's about my son Tucker. He's just such a fun hyper little guy that he's ALWAYS getting into something fascinating. My son Michael is quieter, and more cautious. But he made a fantastic elf.
The kids did well for their first day. They will have some adjustment issues as they transition to public school, but I'm hopeful that this is going to be a good thing for them. The school principal called me yesterday just to let me know that she had checked on the boys and observed them in class for a while and they seemed to be doing well. I can't tell you how relieved that made me. I know that they are in a good place academically. But, they've never been in a classroom before and well, they have issues, you know? That ADD thing, it's hard on kids and teachers and parents. But we'll get through this.
Michael lost his recess for talking out of turn.
But he'll learn - I hope.

He DID make a fantastic elf!
Poor kid.....missed recess....that's ROUGH! How wonderful that the principal called you with an update.
Wow. Mr. Spock would be jealous of those ears. The kids will adjust to public school. Faster than we adults could. Just look at how quickly kids that age pick up video games!
Oh now that is a marvelous elf there. I'm praising the Lord that the day went well with school. How awesome that the principal called you. And well heck, even I missed some recess's for talking. And I turned out pretty ok..lol. He'll catch on. I know they are going to do great. Love, Cathie Jo
Losing recess? Bummer! I'm sure they will both do great!
A big transition indeed! Teachers have to deal with ADD all the time, always have always will. Some teachers are better with it than others, yes. Hopefully your sons' teachers are well prepared for such things. My 7 yr old has a milder form of ADD, though you couldn't convince a great many people in his life that it's not full blown LOL He happens to be seeing a therapist anyway (issues w/dad), so she tries to address the ADD as well. And, I believe it is helping to create awareness in my son of his own tendencies - a big help when I have to stop him to remind him to settle down.
Expecting Love, Peace & Wisdom for you
"My son Michael is quieter, and more cautious"
"Michael lost his recess for talking"
Contradiction, negation.
Trying to confuse a brother elf or what there sister?
HA!
Sail on... sail on!!!
...big adjustment for all concerned, I'm sure! Very thoughtful Principal and only indicates, to me, that you chose wisely.

...how's the toe?
Love the ears.
the kids will get used to the new rules fairly fast they always do.have a good weeekend. Craig
hes a cutie
Great news that your boys are doing well in school. I'm surprised that "talking out of turn" means losing recess. Recess was so important to me, kickball and all. But they're doing good and that's the important thing.....Paul
Yours has been diagnosed with ADD, too, huh? It always bugged me when Andrea was made to miss recess, not for talking -- because she's very, very quiet -- but usually for not getting her work done because she had so much trouble paying attention.
hugs for Momi!
My little brother (well he's not little anymore) had ADHD it was really hard. Plus he had seizures and had to take medicine for both. The sad part is he took the medicine since he was eight years old he's 24 now and the medicine made him sterile. I'll never be an aunt from him. Makes me sad. Don't worry things will get better. It just takes time.
Schools put too much pressure on kids to behave perfectly. What child does not talk out of turn? Hang in there. Your son looked adorable with his elf ears... and I am quite sure he is adorable!
And how are you handling it?
What a LOVELY elf you've got there!!
("talking out of turn": oh, GAG. A friend recently told me her dutiful daughter had come home all upset because "her mouth was moving when the arrow was on whisper." Sheeee-eeesh.
).
Great, cute elf.
Mike
It is good to see the children are settling in - there will be quite a few adjustments, but I do think the Principal was very good to give you an update call - shows they are a caring staff and take into account the parents too. (((HUGS)))
God Bless - Dale
