December Dawn
It’s the month of hot chocolate and peppermint sticks. The month of frosty mornings and early golden sundowns. The month of late mornings when the sun rises as we are on the way to work and we have to push hard against this natural rhythm of sleepiness.
I love December for the Holidays and warm gatherings amid snowflakes. (Even in New Mexico there are occasional flakes, especially in the mountains where Miss Eva lives. We enjoyed a snowfall on Thanksgiving Day with her, then drove down the mountain to temperatures in the mid 40s.)
What’s your favorite aspect of December? What are you looking forward to most about this December?

Snow. Cold days to curl up with cats, books, yarn. Hot tea. Stews simmering on the stove. Candles…
I’m with travelerblue on what I love
. But I’m always overcome by that natural sleepiness. I think people should have December off from work. Then I could spend more time with family and, you know, working on the end-of-the-year school projects. *sigh*
Last December was a hard one for us. My brother passed away on the 18th. This year I am determined to make it a merry month for the kids! Cinnamon-scented kitchens, candle light, and crisp mornings are my favorite things about the month!
I enjoy the snow. If it has to be cold (and it certainly does in Ohio), it might as well be beautiful with snow.
Snow on the mountains contrasted with the big blue sky, Christmas music (heck yes Josh Groban), and going to see A Christmas Carol (a musical).
I’m looking forward to lots of irish coffee!
Let’s see….I am a summer person all the way…..but about December? Well there are the holidays to brighten the days…there’s the cozy feeling of staying indoors, eating hot soup and watching movies or cuddling up with a good book. Two of my kids are January babies so there was a time when I was 8 months pregnant during the holidays….
I always hope (twisted tho it may be) for humongus snowfall … I like the struggle of bundling up & getting around and accomplishing my goal … and finding a huge snowbank to fall in and make a snow angel (though the fall doesn’t seem as soft as it used to) …
my yellow roses are in full bloom!! i think that is pretty cool! and my lilys bloom along with my cyclemen!
Good peppermint sticks, eggnog (found your recipe this morning), and snow. Having finished NaNo helps.
Pls read my blog for 12/01. Thanks.
This put a warm smile on my face.
Hello! What a load of crap that you got so many credits and could not get Lifetime that way!!
What do I look forward to in December? Lights! sparkly things, and the first day of winter when the days start getting longer!! The whole idea of Christmas and commercialism has turned me into a hibernating bear, I run from all the plastic, avoid as much as I can the plastic side of this season. But I love the lights!

December is when I like to swim at midnight after the neighbours have gone to sleep, to go walking at 6 am before the heat sets in, to eat leg ham off the bone every day, to enjoy cherries, mangos and peaches. It’s also wonderful to catch up with family and friends.
lovin’ my sweetie… but then that’s the best part of every month!
well Christmas is the best thing about December. Otherwise I could live withouth the cold, dark days and freezing weather.
The twinkle – on the ornaments, on the snow, on the lights, on the people, in my husbands eyes.
