Inclusions
I have a friend - in Ohio - (waves to friend) - who is a lapidary. We had a conversation not long ago about flaws and he told me about inclusions. Inclusions are "imperfections" in stones. The skilled lapidary works around them and with them. In the end, because of the inclusions, cut stones are more interesting, more beautiful because of the inclusions.
He also sent me a beautiful cabochon of Ohio flint. I thought at first that I would use it to make a piece of jewelry, a brooch or something.
Instead, I carry it in my pocket. I touch its smoothness. I take it out and look at it.
I remember that what looks like a fault to me, could be the very thing that makes life beautiful.
Tonight feels very solemn and weighted. If I were fanciful, I would say that I could almost feel the held breath of a billion people around the globe praying that Americans will make the best choice for us all. Praying in many languages.

Yeah I feel that way too...very emotional and I hope tomorrow turns out the way we want it..or rather need it!
i hope tomorrow will bring us closer together working together for the best of these magnificent United States of America.
I feel that way too. I know I am praying. The weight of tomorrow is very, very heavy on my heart.
The whole world observes you ,today.
Love

I have a lot of friends who are poll workers in Ohio. It requires a lot of training. They're worried. It's a burdensome time, all right
.
Whoa...something must be wrong with me...because I'm excited about tonight.
I'm feeling optimistic...believing there are better days ahead as we move forward.
Take a picture if you have the time
I stood among neighbors for 45 minutes this morning. I imagine more than half of them voted for "the other guy," but each person was kind and interested, invested. I voted for President, very few local officials, and all the local issues. Going to an "election party" tonight and crossing my fingers!
I know my pen pal wrote me from Australia and said it is like the whole world is holding their breath and watching us. WOW I feel special. hehe!
Love your stone observation, being a dyslexic I feel like that was just for me. HUGs God bless!
Donkey Guy for President! Miss Smarty Pants for Vice President! Long Live the Queen! Hi Mom!
Some people just can't get their narrow minds around the fact that God is not a Red (nor is he a Blue) God... But yes, I think prayer is definitely called for. America can use all the help she can get.

OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!!
I loved your stone story - how true it is that the imperfections are what create the beauty in most things. As for the election, I live in New York so no matter what lever I pull, I vote for Barack Obama. He will most certainly get our electoral votes. I sorta takes the pressure off. I have predicted a decisive victory for him in the end, so there is no breath holding going on here. (Of course, I could be wrong and then won't I be surprised.) I hope you can breathe again soon.
My mother has always told me that diamonds and other gem stones needed to be perfect. She considers anything less to be bad luck. However, I have always loved inclusions and flaws in different stones. They lend such character!
They're calling New Mexico for O!!
@DrTiff - YES!
Well - I'm not sad now

A call would be good. Give me a time!
Oooooh, I love stones! Some day I'll get a cord to download pics from my camera to the computer so that I can share my collection with the Xanga community. The first stones I ever collected were a few pebbles from a cave in Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri that I bought from the gift shop at the end of the cave tour. Then, after my son was born, he would randomly find " pretty rocks" and give them to me as gifts in his toddler years. It wasn't until I started studying wicca and the occult that I consciously built my collection, searching for stones with specific shapes or colors and even buying specific stones from the bookstore to bring about qualities that I wanted in my life and had found information about magical correspondence to a specific stone. Anyway, enough about that. LOL
You felt the breath being held... did you feel the sigh of relief as well? I know I sure did, but then, maybe it was mostly my own! I'm quite pleased with the election results and that McCain conseeded (or however you spell that word) and there won't be months of recounting and an eventual overturn of the decision. I say it's AWESOME, I can't wait for the Induction Ceremony! <3 SuZ
