Quiltnmomi Really Quilts
I’ve talked about the quilting project I’m a part of that provides a child sized quilt with a matching bag for foster children and other children in need. (I’ve recently learned that the agency also servis children who’s parent’s are in prison and families who are in crisis for other reasons). Sunday was the presentation day for our quilts at church and as soon as I can arrange it, we’ll deliver another “shipment” to “our” kids.
I thought you’d like to see some photos of the ones I completed this time.
Our goal was to have 48 sets ready for delivery. We have 64.
It feels really good to be a part of something like this.

And speaking of being a part of something to help someone else. I now have 81,000 credits. I’m 4/5 of the way to free lifetime.
I am doing surveys as often as they will let me, but many thousands of those credits have been donated by you. Thank you for helping. * * * * * * * * * *
I have a dilemma with my car. It died yesterday. Now, there’s a chance that it’s a dead battery problem. Or maybe a dead alternator problem. Or maybe a dead computer problem. The car is a 2002 model and has almost 100,000 miles on it. I paid cash for it ($4200) four years ago and haven’t had to put in much beyond routine maintenance since. It was a rebuilt wreck to start with, so it doesn’t have any monetary value. My resources are getting really thin with this business of spending 6 weeks without employment. Should I put money into diagnosig and fixing this car? Or use my money as a downpayment on a new (to me) car?
Upside of fixing it – it may last another four years without a major problem thus saving me the cost of monthly car payments.
Upside of buying a car – lower miles, more reliable, and having an installment loan will give me a mix of credit that will raise my credit score so I may be able to get better terms on a house loan in a year or two.

Started my new job today. All I’ve done so far is orientation but it’s made me even more enthusiastic about this company. They have the best, most family friendly benefits I’ve ever seen. AND they have the BEST checking account product in the entire country right now. www.turbochecking.com People from all 50 states have these accounts, they are administered online so they are easy, and they PAY you INTEREST. 6.01%. That’s not a typo. On balances from $100 to $25,000 they pay 6.01%. Of course there are rules, but they aren’t the kind of rules that I can’t live with.
1. Have a direct deposit into the account OR one automatic debit per month.
2. Make at least 10 debit card transactions monthly (excluding ATM withdrawals)
3. Receive your monthly statement electronically.
4. Access online banking at least once a month. In addition to the 6.01% interest, you get FREE ATM use nationwide (any fees deducted at the time of the transation are refunded at the end of the month.) 1.01% APY on any balance over $25,000. Overdraft Privilege. Free Online Bill Pay.
Wells Fargo, it’s been nice knowin’ ya … but I’ve met somebody new.

Great quilts for a great cause!
I’d say get the new car and boost your credit rating.
I’ve got 41,414 credits toward my lifetime Xanga.
And yes, I’d say goodbye to Wells Fargo too!
love the quilts!!! glad to hear the good news about the job!!!!
Those quilts and totes look great. I especially love the tiger fabric. I’ve tried to knit shawls as part of my church’s prayer shawl ministry, but 1: I’m uncoordinated and slow and can’t follow the simplest pattern. 2: Anything I manage to finish would probably be inundated with cat and dog fur. My cats cannot resist playing with the string, and my dog is jealous of even inanimate objects and will either sit on it or try to knock it out of my hands so that I can use my hands to scratch his ears instead.
Perhaps sewing little quilts is an alternative?
Glad to hear that you like your new job so much, and that this place treats their employees well.
Hope you’re feeling better, too, after the nightmare rash.
@RnBoW_SPOT - I think I forgot to say that in addition to all this, after a year of employment, if you do a mortgage with them, they waive the origination fees. That’s a couple thousand dollars more reasons to like this place.
WOW! I was feeling good because I rolled over 40thou today! lol Now I feel lazy. lol I am going to have to start hitting the surveys! lol
The bags are very cool well done! The banking sounds like an incedible deal. Good luck with the job!
Dear madam,
I’m sorry for so sudden signing in your xanga site. Actually I’m an English learner and I looked for your xanga site by chance. I find it fascinating after reading your passages. Would you mind if I keep reading you acticles? Thank you very much……
Sam
lovely way to share the quilts. the new job sounds like a winner, too. let’s just hope it will be possible to do mortgages in the future…
wow; these are wonderful and inspiring!
good job, quilting mom
Those are SO cute!
I’m doing Linus Project quilts. Your’s are really cute and kids will love them. Best wishes for your future and new job.
That is a kickass bank. Mine has all of that but the interest rate is maybe half that, and not since the Fed stepped in. Yay with the quilts! It sounds like you’re on top of things. I wish I had some advice on the car. I’m in the market for a new one, but the ones I like and that are fuel efficient are scarce and you can’t get a bargain on them. However, if you wanted to buy a gas guzzler, they’ll practically pay you to take it off their lot. Oh yes, and yay credits! I’m only at 36,000. I have a long way to go. Godspeed to ya
It’s a fun goal.
i think i caught up on reading all your blogs…
i miss you on IM.
i am up to 500 credits, when i hit 1000, i will leave you the 1000 eprop.
THAT is a good deal… almost as good as a real.deal.quiltn.MOMI
No good deed goes unrewarded.
Glad you are liking your new job. I love the quilts. That is a wonderful project. How many eprops do you need. I have some to spare…
Gorgeous quilts and just so great that you have made these for a special cause. I know I play with the idea myself as I believe there is a place here in Abbotsford that does something like this – but I procrastinate too much and have not made up my mind to go out and find them and become part of their circle.
I see you are trying to get a lifetime membership and we can help. Here are some from me then.
