Moving Philosophically -
I'm down to about four boxes of books that need to be donated to the Friends of the Library. I have a basket of clothes that just came out of the laundry to be packed. And then there are odds and ends. Decorative items and so forth like that. A few pictures left on the wall, and that's about it.
Well, and my computer. I'll pack that last because I plan to pay bills on Friday.
Anyway, soon it should look like that the Who's House in Whoville after the Grinch came to call.
As much as I dislike moving, WHY do I do it so much?!?
That's a serious question. There are lots of things I do that either I don't enjoy at the time, or I don't enjoy the results. But I keep doing them. I over eat. I move from one house to another. I buy things I don't need and then wonder where my money went. I defend myself to people who's good opinion I neither respect nor desire. (You know the ones I mean, if they like you it's because you're entertainment never because you're a real person to them.)
Why do I do these things??

because you are human
period
we all do things we ask ourselves later, whyyyyyyyyyyy?????????
A serious question deserves a serious answer. But who really wants serious answers? We seem always to want to know what the answer will be beforehand so we know if we're going to agree with it or not. Or a good answer is one that satisfies us even if it changes nothing. Kind of makes it okay to have all this crap we'd like to be different, but not enough to seriously approach the subject. The subject being you yourself since it's you who keep doing the things you have identified as self-defeating and destructive. But the very nature of the problem suggests the answer will have to be something with which you don't, can't really agree. If you did agree you'd already know the answer. If you already knew the answer, really knew the answer, you'd apply it to your life and change. But once we've got the answer it doesn't mean anything is going to change. Especially if we have to do something about the answer rather than simply give it our mental assent. So, what's the answer? You're a machine reacting to the events which arise in life without any real consciousness of the mechanics of the machine you take to be you yourself.
Is asking "why" helping you? If not, just knock back a Gatorade and leave that thought.
I was going to say something that hopefully might make you feel better and tell you one reason is just b/c you're human but James said it best I think! Now he's a deep thinker and I'm not any more. Yes I think at one time I was but not any longer since I'm older and wiser now. I don't waste much time worrying or wondering why I do things any more. I just do them and move on!! I think you're just fine and you reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally have to try hard to not sweat the small stuff! It's not easy-but try harder to do that! It's easy to say but not so easy to do but you'll be so much better off if you can accomplish it!!
Good luck and really-you amaze me anyway! I could never do all you do!! I've been married (as you know) 40 years and only moved 3 times in that span of time if you don't inclue the time my DH was in the Army back in the late 60's so I'm not a good person to ask the question of.....really. I just don't see how you've done all you have-I never would have survived all you have either! So I say my hat's off to you!! Just try hard to NOT sweat all that small stuff you think is big stuff!!
(((((((((((((((hugs to you!)))))))))))))))
