Ah...so you went to the balloon glo on Labor Day. Very nice.
A balloon glo takes place at night. That's when they fill the balloons with air, but they don't launch. What they do is use the flame to light up the balloons so they are all on the ground and glowing like giant light bulbs. What we wound up doing was attending the "mass ascension" on Monday morning.
At Colorado Springs they "only" have 90 or so balloonists. We have a relatively small launch field and with the issues of the air currents around Cheyenne Mountain (which you can see in the background of some of these photos ... Wave to the Norad people) the Colorado Balloon Classic committee wants to have the most experienced balloonists.
