  • Picture Books

I love picture books.  I love the art, I love polished gem stories, and I love cuddling up to share with my kids.  Earlier this week I mentioned my home-made take on the Three Pigs which inspired other people to mention their favorite spoofs of the story.  I don't know what it is about that particular tale but we seem to all share a giggle over a clever variation.

So in case you missed the comments that pointed you toward these fun ones ... see if you can pick them up at your library and round out your Piggy education.

PS - I know that not everyone is a poetry fan, that's why I rarely post a poem on this site.  But for those of you who do like that sort of thing, I've posted several new ones, some I think even border on decent in a diamond in the rough sort of way.  Over at my other site ... Mysterri.  So if you have a few extra moments to surf today, I'd appreciate a visit there.

  • Cool post!  I did not know you could get more than one "currenty reading" in one post.  By the way, what happened to your colorful layout with your erotica poem "drippin clean as rainwater?"

  • I used to read to my kids all the time and loved it.  They are too grown up for that too, but at least the two of the three that loved being read too, now love to read on their own.  So that is some consolation.  We read that version told by the wolf too.  Very funny stuff.

  • These are so fun.  Our favorite is the latter in your list.  I still remember Brother coming home from school and being sooo excited about that book.    I honestly don't think there is anything BETTER than having a child on your lap...reading a good picture book.

  • Thanks for the link to your poems site. I need the inspiration and you are certainly good at that.

  • I have not seen the second one you mention, so I'll have to look it up. My favorite is The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig, by Eugene Trivizas. Although Oink, by Arthur Geisert, is also a classic of pig lit, and Sandra Boynton's Grunt (Pigorian Chant from Santo Domoinko de Silo) is pretty amusing....

  • Aw. much fun, yes.

It reminds me of the first book I read....I was 3, and it was The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

It's something my Mum still mentions when she meets friends of mine.  Bless her

  • my favorite picture books of all time are:
any ISpy book [oh how i miss those orthodontist appointments with sarah].
    and
any book by Chris VanAllsburg [Polar Express, etc].  Ohhh...his book The Mystery of Harris Burdick...it's wonderful.  just wonderful.
