  • *Update*

I know that this is mostly for me, but I want you guys to know that I managed to apply for jobs in 5 different places today.  That's not the total number of places where I picked up applications that's the number of places where I was able to speak with someone about a job.  Three told me they are hiring and one invited me back for a second interview on Friday.

I AM a whiner and complainer (and I LOVED twoberry's advice about learning to worry in moderation) - but I am also trying to do something other than simply whine.

Yes, it stressed me that I lost yesterday from my job hunting opportunity basket.  But I am out there doing the best I can to make this thing work.

    *hugs*

  • Wow!  You really got around today.  Good luck on that second interview Friday.

  • I think we all do that a bit.   The Dalai Lama has said, "If you can change something...then why worry about it?  And if you cannot change something...then why worry about it?"

Easier said than done, granted...but still.   A nice thought.

  • I haven't been able to talk to anyone directly about a job. Working in NYC as an accounting clerk, you usually go through agencies to get an interview.  There are simply too many other people looking for similar work.  The companies that have the resources and the HR department are not hiring through agencies but through word of mouth.  As of yet I have not come across these companies.  It's like looking for a needle in a hay stack.  Working while looking for work also makes having contact with the hiring people hard but let's face it, when I was unemployed for 4 mos. before I got this job, I wasn't making contact with companies.  Why?  Because I don't want to be an accounting clerk anymore.  I really thought teaching and going for my master's to be an English teacher for middle school was going to be the path for me.  Now that I've been knocked out of that program, I'm back to this bologna.  Blegh.

  • Best of luck on the job hunt. Have you read "What color is my parachute?" It's a rather helpful sort of job hunting for the spiritually minded kind of book.

  • is it POSSIBLE for you to worry in moderation???
