  • A couple days ago, I was asked whether I had lost subscriber's during the year that I mostly didn't comment.  Not really (surprising I know, because the general rule is that if you are self-absorbed and too lazy to comment on people, they leave you alone.)  But, you might be amused to know that this week since I've been commenting again?  I've lost four.  Happily, I'm not aware of WHICH rats left the ship.  LOL.  I just wonder if I've offended someone with my comments.

  • Only four? Not bad. You have some understanding subscribers.

  • *blinks* You lost subs? Goodness.

  • Rats left the ship, hehe!  I don't monitor such things on purpose so I won't be hung up on it, although sometimes, I notice a number change.  Perhaps it was the time on the lunar calendar for some to depart... who knows?  I mean, really, who knows such stuff?  LOL!  Makes me think of a book hubby has been reading.  Oh, poo, I am dopey-headed and can't remember the exact name of the theory, but it's all about random things suddenly happening in synchronized patterns... interesting idea.  Anyway, maybe that is what happened.  Don't worry about it!

  • i don't pay attention to subscribers (because i'm not sure how, actually), but i have noticed that people will eventually quit commenting if i don't comment on their sites as well.... but who has that much time to devote to xanga?

  • And so I'M gonna subscribe to you!! Take THAT, shipjumpers!
    Nanny-nanny-boo-boo!

  • As I stated in my (now protected) post, I do feel like I need to visit those who stop by, then the others as time permits. But every now and then I see someone who has updated recently so I check in on them. That's how I found this blog. Right now my subscribers and subscribees are nearly equal so I was able to just add everyone to the protected list. The rest of life is far too complicated, I can't make Xanga that way...

BTW I've noticed that it's a waste of time to add someone to a protected list if they never subscribe to you 'cos they never see the posts, so... no pressure, I just removed you from that one.

  • I have people who sub to me all the time and never leave a single comment.  So when they leave, it's not like I really miss them.  Since you don't know who is missing, my bet is that those are some of the ones you lost.

  • I lost two this week (but picked up two). I think I got a bit too rough :) Sometimes I get a bit zealous with my sharing and some are just faint of heart.

  • I've never known when someone unsubbed to me.  Don't pay attention.  Odd though to not lose any when not commenting and lose some when you are commenting lol. life is weird.

  • oh, I know how you feel- I don't know if anyone has the catch to "not caring" what others think completely-but that's because we know we are not as close as we could be; imho.(I change things in comments all the time because you worry how it may sound or come across but in a way that is being a really aware person, and its good but we do it too much. we drive ourselves crazy!) Its true that if someone commments, I am more apt to go and make a comment on theirs but if others do that too; that's cool with me. I truly enjoy "genuineness" and truth in and for people and for myself as well. I have learned to be a little selfish, in my "later years" and a little less caring about if I come across like a dork or whatever...mostly I have found its true: people think what they are gonna think and you can only "speak" to those that are wanting to hear what you have to say. Bummer! LOL. My xanga has helped me to know me much better and helped me to feel closer to humanity; which I personally needed. That's why I thank you for talking to me about the woman's rights stuff. I feel really separated from womankind, and that is a shame because we all have so much in common. Thank you again. Blessed Be.

  • Oh, doesn't that always make you feel uncertain when that happens?  Even though maybe you never really knew them, or they left because they were clearing out of Xanga altogether, or cleaning their closets, or just slipped with the mouse?

Personally, I've been in a holding pattern for over a year; lose some gain some, but lately I've picked up a few of two certain types.  By this I mean the nice conservative religious types whom I meet usually more frequently over here chez toi, and the young vibrant devil-may-care types I meet more frequently over chez Daff.  So I know I'll lose them, 'cause neither one will get what they're looking for chez moi!

Chin up.  Many happy subscribers lurk in the wings for you, I know.

  • I'm still here.

  • Now - I'm actually a new subscriber to your site.  I have a tendency to bail from Xanga at least once a week.  LOL.  I'm am one of those rats though that I sometimes drop a subscription if the comments are totally one sided.  It depends on the site.  Have a great day!

  • Too bad you can't shake THIS rat!    Well, you could always block me, ain't so?  Of course, I've never blocked anyone before.    (Riiiiiiight)

  • I always wanted to have people fill out a "Why did you leave" form LOL just to see why they stopped reading... I really dont care but thought it would be funny to read

  • I was glad to have lost a few of mine in the couple of months that I quit posting and reading. The smaller my audience, the less I feel pressured to write to please anyone else.
