  • My Losses

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most?  The kids are out of school today.  And we're having a musical morning.  I opened the box in which I had packed the decorative items from my meditation corner to take some things in to my new office.  Well, ALSO in that box were the maracas, the tambourine, and the bongos.  Michael has been learning to play the recorder at school, and I happened to own a lovely carved wood recorder.  So the boys have been entertaining me with their musical selections.

Anybody got a Tylenol to spare?

Velvet Glove suggested that I post a list of the CD's that were stolen to see if anyone can help me to find new copies.  It's a little funny to think of opening up my list, kind of like inviting you to look into my medicine cabinet.  Up until this moment, you could only suspect things about my psyche that will no doubt be revealed and confirmed by this list.

I have compiled a list of most of the cd's that were stolen.  Some of the kids' disks, God only knows where the jewel case is, so I only included cd's for which I can find the jewel case.  A few of the ones that were lost I had backed-up on my harddrive so I've already burned new copies of Josh Groban, Norah Jones, and Sting.    I suspect that some of the disks that were in that folder are out of print now (I know for certain that one of the Harry Belafonte albums is no longer available.)

If anyone can help me locate and replace these, I'd be very grateful.  It's hard to say which ones I miss the most, but probably the Paul Simon and Leonard Cohen from the Other group.  And the Twila Paris, Rich Mullins, and WOW Worship from the Christian Column.

  • Hmmm I would love to have the Tarzan soundtrack.  I bet that's good!  I have a ladysmith Black Mambazo, but it's not The Gift of the Tortoise, sorry.

One time I misplaced 5 of my newest CDs.  a year later, I found media player versions of them on some back-up CDs from My Documents.  I created new CDs from that.  Lucky me.  These days, I copy my music to my hard drive (at least until I get it copied to a CD.  I take backups in my car as well.  They seem to scratch more often there, so the real one's stay in my CD changer (it's a 50 disk changer) at home.

  • Another alternative (half price-ish) is to download the albums from napster or some service like that.  They are about 8 bucks per album that way.

  • Hmmm...sorry...other than Bob Segar and Mannheim Steamroller, we have very little of the same music.  And I don't happen to have that Segar or those MS CDs either.

  • Approx 47 X $12.00 = $564.00 in CD's. And artists wonder why people rip their shit and keep copies in the auto. Have you made a claim on your auto insurance? I mean hell, you have a list... give it a shot. Even if they give you half you can replace it all with Metalica, Great Big Sea, Anthrax, Franky, DJ Micro... you know, the GOOD STUFF!

    Sail on... sail on!!!

  • Sorry I can't help with any of those CDs! But I am sending you a mental Tylenol!!

  • Seeing that list makes me feel so sad for your loss.  We have some of those CDs.  How can we help?

  • Wish I could help with the call for albums, but I don't have any of those. I do have some Christmas Manheim Steamroller though. Good luck with your search, and I hope the President's Day musicians in your house give you some intermission!

  • Dread - there are 47 cds on the list I posted here, but there were about 10 stored on my harddrive, and about 15 more that I can't find the jewel cases for.  There were 72 total in that wallet.  And when I realized that insurance doesn't cover the loss because CD's are considered too high risk ... you can imagine that I was pretty upset.  I estimate my loss at about $950.  (Expensive lesson)  But the worst is being without my music.

  • Winmx is easy to download from, no ads, trojans or viruses.  My two pcs blew up a couple of months ago and I  lost close to 2,000 mp3s, some of rare World cds I'd uploaded and no longer have (degraded and sadly thrown out).

  • Wow, you must feel lost without those. hope you are able to gain back copies of them.

  • Sympathies.  A music lover myself, I've lost three enormous-size record collections over the years.  Oh, well, I've still got plenty here, but it's a lot older stuff than what you lost.  I hope you can rebuild.

  • fuck ur tunes....

    what's in ur medicine cabinet?

One day? When I drop by? I'll try to be better...

    No promises....

K.... Now what drugs you got?

    I try......

    Be good T...

    Thanks for the love...

  • Oh sorry you lost your music. I enjoy my music so much I would be lost without it. Thanks for coming by. Judi

  • *ouch* Lost CD's is always a pain.  Unfortunately I don't have spare copies of any of them, and only OWN one of them (Queen - Greatest Hits vol 1).

Thanks for stopping by and being supportive

  • Someone stole your CDs?  How awful.  You certainly have an eclectic collection (or had I guess I should say).  I've not heard of half of these artists.  I wouldn't know how to go about finding replacements - especially at reasonable costs.  Music can be very expensive, and I don't have the capability of downloading music or burning CDs.  Hope you have some luck in replacing your music.
