  • I'm an IDIOT

I should know better.  I've played with SIMS before and they ate up months of my time.  (It seems like after you play for 100 hours the game mentions that to you - you've played 100, 200, 300 ...)  I don't know that I ever reached the 200 hour mark, I think I was shocked when I hit 100.  Plus after a while, I started to get to the point that it wasn't fun to be God to a group of people who either did what I told them and prospered, or if let alone would never do what I told them and so they died.

But then the boys have been playing.

So last night after they went to sleep.  I fired it up.  "Just to build a house or two, play with the designing features ..."

Oy!  Three HOURS later I  have two bachelor guys living beside each other with a lovely single woman across the street.  One of them is trying to impress her with his up and coming career in politics and his nifty pad.  The other is just a really sweet guy who loves to putter in his garden.

I do NOT have time for this.

I closed the loan I was working on yesterday.  My clients got back about $3,000 more than I had told them at first so they were happy.  Then I had a meeting with the boss at Service Mortgage and I'm not so happy.  Some changes in the direction of the company that are going to make it a little harder for me to get going.  But I'm learning everything I can learn. I'm going to be very teachable.  Because the more I learn now, the more I'll be able to do later and the better I'll be able to turn around and help the people who come in next.

I know that's cryptic.  Let's just say that I'll be working harder and longer hours for a while.  But hopefully, the end result of that will be a happier little life for me and the boys.  Now - let the KIDS play SIMS while Mom works.  No more giving up three hours of my good sleeping time to PLAY.

  • It's always good to know the rules - that way you can be certain of how best to break them to get things done for your clients.  ;)

  • Oh computer games!  They are addicting.  I  just have to stay away from them because I just can't stop either.   (Do we ever grow up?)  - Jenn

  • Ah, the Sims.  My hubby bought me Sims 2 for Christmas, and I've spent many many hours playing that game.  I haven't put it in since we got back from vacation though.  I've been tempted.. but I've resisted!

  • Yeah, Sara just bought Sims2.  She has been playing whenever she can get to the computer.  I'm hoping she will burn out on it eventually, like she did on Sims 1, but that could be months from now.

  • Once and awhile, you've just gotta play.  I'm hoping for that happier little life for you and the boys, too.

  • Oh, I hear you on the addictive SIMS. We used to have the Playstation version, and I think it was the humor that really sucked me in. I loved the way the woman would pee the floor if you didn't get her to the toilet on time, then her mom yell at her and ask if she needed diapers. And the way they would collapse in the middle of the kitchen floor to sleep if you didn't get them to bed.

  • Oh! I also thought it was cool that dh could have his game going, and I'd have mine, and then I could actually go and get characters he'd created and have them live in my world. I thought that was cool. This is making me nostalgic... must... resist... desire... to ... buy... software.

  • All this simms addiction tendencies scare me away from the game, but curiousity is killing me in the meantime

  • I know what you mean! LOL! I love the SIMS, but after about 40 hours, I get kind of bored...I started to play my old family I had started back at Christmas of 2003 this weekend. lol!

I got real hung up on the Star Wars on-line game..That sucked *hours* out of my life. Once I started working, though, I found I no longer wanted to play anymore, so it was easy to let it go.

Great work with the clients! And yeah..change isn't easy...Just remain flexible...Rubber Band Girl! :)

  • so who are the Sims?  And how did they get here?

  • I once considered forming a "Sims-aholic" support group complete with a 12 step program.  But then I decided to lie down til the feeling passed.

  • hey - this is a test to see if my sharc will show up

  • the Sims .. groan... mine kept putting themselves on fire.. i swear my son altered the controls of the game so i would lose quicker.. gave them too awquidity factor..lol...

  • Not into SIMS, don't know what they are. Sounds like a computer game or something. Anyhoo, just checking in, letting you know how glad I am that we're both busy and happy and working.

  • Sounds like I should continue to stay away from the SIMS
