  • Emerge - Emergent - Emergency

So during the five hours I spent in the local ER yesterday --- isn't that a great dramatic beginning?  I'll get back around to the how, and why in a minute, but for now, I just wanted to describe what I heard.  See, lying on that table, with my eyes closed and sort of drifting in a twilight place.  I heard voices murmuring, and indistinct except for their tone and pitch.  I heard the hum of equipment and the rhythm of feet on the hard floor.  None of the contributors thought about his or her part in the symphony.  They simply were there.  But nonetheless a distinct music emerged from the mix.

Okay, the explanation.  I knew earlier in the week that I didn't feel well.  I even began treatment for my symptoms.  But the treatment didn't effect the particular bug that I've picked up and well, after the lab work yesterday, the doctor said - you have what we call a "raging infection."  I was almost proud of myself for being truly and totally sick - no half measures for this gal.  So I got an injection of antiobiotic, Came home with a prescription for more antibiotic.  I have to go BACK to the hospital today so they can see if THIS antibiotic treatment is actually working ... Have I mentioned that I really dislike hospitals?  Have I mentioned that I REALLY dislike needles?  The only way I can tolerate an injection is if I can watch them give it to me.  I have to SEE the WHOLE needle emerge from my skin.  See, my paranoid delusion is that the needle will break and rocket to my heart - and no more quiltnmomi.  (I might get that answer to Tucker's grim reaper question ...)

The last time I had a needle enter my skin in a place I couldn't watch was when I was in labor with Tucker.  Fourteen hours of hard labor made me okay with the possibility that the needle might kill me, I just wanted it to be over one way or the other.  I know, that probably makes me a coward and a wuss.  I can own that about myself.

I made it 6 and 1/2 years since the last time - I've been given 24 hours to get ready for the next time.  And in the meantime, I'm going back to bed.  Because even though my system is full of antibiotics - I don't feel any better.

  • First of all I pray that God would send a quick and complete healing.  I'm not crazy about needles myself (can't understand how addicts, diabetics, etc. give themselves shots) but I don't want to watch when they give me a shot.  Just do it and tell me when you're done.  Get lots of rest!

    God Bless - Dale o/

  • Ahhhh...hospital white noise.  Puts me out like a light. (I've spent so much time in hospitals in my life...heh...if they have me lie on a table and say they'll be right back, I'm snoozing in minutes.)  (I sleep in the dentist's chair, too.)  o_0  normal...? What fun is normal?

I'm SO sorry to hear you're not feeling well.  Ergh...infections, antibiotics...they can make your whole body ache, y'know?  Hope they get it under control soon and that you get a ton of rest this weekend.  (Fluids!!!  Push fluids!)  (It's a mom thing...sorry.)

I hope you don't need anymore hospital visits!

  • Read this then scrolled down & read your "Fighting Fair" propaganda and am thoroughly convinced that the reason you went to the ER (which also happens to be my initials) is because of BAD KARMA  It's amazing someone eyes as beautiful as your's could have such a wicked and petty soul....but Hitler was said to have hypnotic eyes also!!!

  • oh girlie ya went and overdone it!

you BETTER take care of you!!!!!!!!!!

  • You've hypnotized me with your wicked and petty eyes, that are obviously the window to your wicked and petty soul, my dear, and now I will be following your evil tactics to the gates of hell!

    hail terri!

Hope you feel better soonly, my dear.

  • Oh that's not good.  Hope you're feeling well soon.

I, too, spent a good deal of yesterday in the hospital... head x-rays for my 6 yr old.  Nothing chipped, broken or rattled too much   He's fine now (except one of his ears is swollen and sticks way out).

  • OMG sorry, I just had to swallow my soda or spit it out after reading MNM'sRev up there.

I hope you feel so much better when you read this.  I am the opposite way with needles, although I see your point. I can't watch them, or any kind of knife, puncture skin.. gives me the heebie jeebies... that is the only time I look away on ER LOL

    Get better you!!

  • I hope you do feel better eventually.

  • Sounds like you "done real good" this time!   Or real bad... either way, this is not really good, nor good English!  I (((sorry))) you 'fraid of needle sticks... Hope you are up to some smiles by now and the meds are finally workin'!

  • Feel better soon, y'hear me?  And thankyou, so much, for your kindness.  It's MrB's birthday today, and it's kind of weird that his Mom and us are on such strange terms.  Ah well - time is the greatest healer, they say.  Thankyou again Terri *hug*.
