That Was Close!
(in regard to yesterday's poems, no one guessed both of them, but Moniet was right that one of mine is the e. e. cummings forgery. The other I wrote was the Shakespeare, which Faith liked, but didn't enter as a guess. What do you think judges, should they get a potholder anyway?)
It's Friday and I'm ready for the weekend. Starting back with our school routine is never easy, no matter what kind of school, kids or teacher. We've had a particularly challenging week. My kids have uttered the phrase "I'm bored," "This is boring," or "I don't want to" at least a dozen times a day. But, so far they are surviving anyway. (Once in a fit of irritation I told them that if they were bored they must not have enough to do and doubled their math problems. But, even that wasn't enough to totally do them in.)
Friday nights are reserved for family. We have pizza, games and hang out in our pajamas watching videos past bedtime on Friday nights. But for now, I'm going to finish up our school week and then plug into some good music for the afternoon. I can see the glow of the coming weekend just around the corner.

I remember being bored as a kid....as an adult, I wonder how I COULD have been bored.....
I really LOVE your F= Family Fun idea. We used to have "family night" with no computer or TV, and it seems to have gone by the wayside. I like the sound of yours and tonight would be the perfect night to start that tradition of our own. I'm way too tired to do much on Friday nights. We'll probably have to have a No/Limited phone call night for our daughter, to make it work, though!
Ooohh -- I'm so glad you wrote the Shakespeare one. As to potholders: I seldom hold a pot (except to wash them; dh is the cook and I'm scullery), but it sounds very tempting
. Fridays at home are fun, aren't they? My kids and I are all looking forward to some video fun too.
What a nice and peaceful Friday night you will have with your family !

We do our family night on Saturdays. We always have a really nice dinner, then we rent videos and eat lots of junk food.
that sounds like a good Friday evening plan... I think I might adapt that tonight...
We're a Friday-night-pizza-video-and-game-jammie family ourselves
. I've checked out five DVD's from the library: Long Gray Line (an inspiriing true story of service and honor at West Point) for my son who "says" he wants to go to West Point, The Electric Horseman for my daughter who loves horses (I need to preview because I saw it over 20 years ago and can't remember if it's okay for her to see), Chicken Run, finding Forrester (for me and hubby) and Angelina Ballerina Friends Forever for my daughter. Mmmmmm I can almost smell the popcorn now! Enjoy your family time! You deserve some down time.
every time i said i was bored, as a child, my mom would make me paint the house or something. i'm glad she didn't pass that along to my teachers....
Each time I said I was bored as a child my (our) Mom would make me vaccuum ...... maybe you should try that Terri - your den would be the cleanest it has been in years! (either that or you would lose a cat or two!)
We couldn't use boring back when I was a kid.. otherwise we found ourselves very busy doing something
I hope you have a great weekend!
good idea! Fridays at your house sound like a lot of fun!
*chuckling about your comment at my blog* It took me a long time to finally delete the three I did. They weren't edifying me in any way. Now YOUR blogs... they're edifying. *winks* And I just realized something... if I got to your site here I can't read the font at all. Eep. What font is it?
Arghh . . . this makes me so jealous. I miss being in the classroom. I miss the kids' whining, and I miss looking forward to weekends.
I almost want to give you zero eprops, just because that little smilely devil is so damned cute...
I really like your Friday night thing. We usually do ours on Saturday. Friday is reserved for me and the hubby for now. (until we get too old to enjoy it. LOL)
Have a great weekend.
Thanks for stopping by Terri
I so understand the *I've lost my routine* with kids... seems there's always changes *grin* Have a wonderful weekend
Family nite chez moi is on Sundays. Right after a "family meal" we watch a DVD that I've picked out-- usually foreign, or at the very least non-mainstream. They all bitch and moan about how I pick out such dumb movies... but then I hear them talking about it to their friends... and they sound kind of proud.
Friday nights sounds like fun!
We usually do that on Saturday...mainly because one of the kids is at they're dad's house on Friday...but this is only if we can get the little ones to stay all in one room long enough!
Have a great weekend!

Papyrus! Nope! Can't see it! Darn it.
My daughter's a third grade teacher and, boy, the things she has to say about her students (generically of course). But bored is not one of the items she mentions when speaking of them. LOL
Have you ever heard the term hellion? This year's class is far different than last years. But she loves 'em. You do, too, it sounds like. I, for one, don't miss my little kid days. It's hard work to rear a child. Very, very.

Yeh! Saturday is 40 minutes away!!
When any of the children told me they were bored, I was fond of saying "No one can bore you but yourself."
Your whole life sounds interesting. I was trying to find a small poetry book to send you someone famous's poem but I realise since I moved I cannot find it how annoying ,we only found our fridge thermometer the other day mixed up with my computer stuff. This is a weird house no 13, I do not like. Cheers Portia

P,S. I hd missed the poetry so went down and had a look.
I'm trying to start a similar Friday night movie night for our family...last night they voted against my choice of movie (Big starring Tom Hanks) in favor of some dumb shoot 'em up robber/gangster movie
Oh, well. ~Spot~
That's a great way to spend a Friday night.
Friday night is family night at our house too. Pizza and movies. One action usually then Papa is off to bed and we the girls and I have a late night chick flick .
