  • Birthdays, Snow, and Pizza - Oh, My

Tucker's birthday was last Monday, but we are celebrating it today.  He wanted to wait until we had a day that his Daddy was off work.  We have presents and he has plans.  He wants to go out to dinner.  I was expecting him to ask for pizza at Chuck E Cheese, but he surprised me with a request for Chinese Buffet.  "I want to have my Birthday Dinner in China, Mom." - It's taken a while, but I'm learning to interpret kidspeak.

He's six years old.  The age when teeth fall out.  I hate that stupid tooth fairy, turning my babies into big boys.  I'm like every other Mom on the planet, I'd just as soon keep them that perfect size to snuggle on my lap and thinking that Mom is the greatest thing since peanut butter and pickles.  Their growth is robbing me of both those pleasures.

I thought I had the parenting thing figured out with Michael.  We rocked along pretty well that first-born child and I.  Then Tucker showed up and I realized I didn't know anything about raising kids.  Michael was TOO easy.  He happily smiled and cooed and did the cute baby thing.  Tucker was born demanding that the world conform to his expectations, thank you very much.  I haven't been able to do much that has convinced him of any need to compromise so far.

On the other hand, I'd much rather have dinner at the Asian Pearl than Chuck E Cheese.

I only had to take this quiz FOUR times to get it to come out to the one I liked. I kept getting that Moody Aragorn, talk about wacked!

  • A kid who doesn't want to go to Chuck E. Cheese?  I LOVE HIM!  I LOVE HIM!  I LOVE HIM!  Wow, you're one lucky Mom.  I've blogged about Chuck E. Cheese before and vowed never to return.  That place makes me mentally ill.

Apparently my New Year's resolution should be to incite a revolution through my art.  ?  Didn't know I had any art

  • All those subliminal tapes finally paid off!

  • Nathan (turned 6 in September), he's been asking a lot lately wanting to know when his teeth are going to fall out.  He's quite looking forward to it.

  • I'm at that age where I'm hoping my teeth don't fall out!   o/

    God Bless - Dale

  • Dinner in China.    Wonderful.  Have a great party!

  • Been in a Chuck E Cheese's once... shudders LOL  I hope you all have fun and HAPPY Birthday!!

  • I took the personality disorder test once and it told me I was"psychotic"  ..... Hhhmmmmm, that explains a lot!

    Happy Birthday Tucker!

  • Legolas is cute, but what's with those brows? They don't match his hair.

  • I dunno... Chuck's got all those wild friends who are always good for a laugh.   Happy Birthday, Tucker!!!

  • I'm an avoidant?  What?  I...avoidant...OH, heh, yep I am. I'll be danged!

See...that's the thing about babies.  The first one lulls you into that sense of, "oh now this isn't so hard, is it?  Then come the rest...erffff.  That's why I stopped at one.  I'd be danged if I'd let a bunch o'babies outsmart me!  *sigh* yesh, darn it...my one...no wait...my second...no...oh poo...one of my many regrets...stopping at one.  At least it was a good one!

  • Tucker sounds like he'll grow into the kind of people I like hanging out with... they march to their own drummer... wonder where he got that? (maybe a parent who takes those What Lord of the Rings Male and Mood Do You Desire brought to you by Quizilla things till they come out the way they want? hmmm?)

  • Very cool choice of birthday-dinner place, Tucker!

I hate that Tooth Fairy also...I think most mothers of sons could relate to what you wrote about the Tooth Fairy turning your babies into big boys. ::sigh::

  • Hey, I love Aragorn....he's my man

  • "I'm like every other Mom on the planet, I'd just as soon keep them that perfect size to snuggle on my lap and thinking that Mom is the greatest thing since peanut butter and pickles."

i'm no mom but i can relate to that. i used to wish i had the power to freeze time and i would do it at a moment when everyone in my family was feeling happy.

but darnit my teeth fell out and i grew up and i never got that power i wanted.

  • Cute...lol.  Had to try it out.  Says mine is to seduce people

  • Well, parenting doesn't have a handbook, does it? If they are even remotely behaved, consider yourself ahead of the game!  We have Celebration Station here in NC, along with Chuck E Cheese, but it's practically the same thing.  Chinese sounds good.. making me hungry...

I just watched Two Towers yesterday, and I was pleased to watch the Dwarf become the comic relief.  It was really hard to take him seriously, anyway...

Funny, we have the same mental preoccupations...
