  • Under the Circumstances - - -

I should be having a great day.  I arrived back home last night after a month away helping to care for my terminally ill Grandmother.  I had a good night's sleep - the husband and kids deliberately let me sleep in this morning until WELL past my normal "gettin up" time.  We spent the day Christmas shopping, and went out to my favorite Chinese buffet for lunch.

Instead of basking in the holiday glow, I'm irritable.  I'm tired of rude pushy people who seem to think that Holiday Spirit has something to do with getting the biggest, brightest, flashiest, closest, etc and so forth.  If they have to run over me to get it, they act like they score bonus points for their effort.  I'm tired of trying to keep a running balance in my head so I know I won't overspend my Christmas budget.  (Yes - I'm shopping the discount stores this year.)  I'm tired of - you know - I think that's it.  I'm tired.

I'm going to bed now - even though it isn't my normal "goin down" time for another four hours.  Maybe tomorrow I'll be ready to sing Fa-la-la with the radio.

  • Well go get your beauty sleep.  That is always a good thing.  Hope you are more in the Christmas spirit tomorrow.

  • I SOOOO know where you are coming from, I just got back from WalMart, and had no less than 4 carts HIT me in aisles, no less than 2 kids pushing those tiny buggies at high rates of speed screaming at the tops of their lungs cut in front of me so I had to STOP to avoid hitting THEM, and then stood in 2 lines 40 minutes, total, as they only had 4 lines up and running, and one of the registers was out of tape...Grrrr. All around people were pushing, shoving, and frowning...not a good day.

  • It is sad how Christmas has gone so comercial.  The holidays should be about family.  Yeah, presents are nice- who doesn't like a gift?  But, sheesh people- try not to murder one another at the checkout!

N-E-Way, get some sleep, things always look better with sleep.  Peace.

  • I know exactly what you mean and I know alot of others that have suddenly started to feel that way.  God is doing a wonderful thing in our lives to free us from the materialistic "spirit" that has started to prevail in people's lives.  We need to pray that others too would see the light and begin to honor the Christ Child rather than honoring themselves.

    God Bless - Dale

  • I have considered carrying a visibly fully loaded "SuperSoaker" watergun with me when I go to WalMart these days - I bet THEN people would stay out of my way!!

  • Good Luck!  I avoid stores like the plague during the holiday season.  INTERNET SHOPPING is the way to go.  The UPS guy hates me

  • wickece:  The UPS guy should love you!

  • Sleep is good.

  • Hope you got some sleep and are feeling better. People can really be rude, and esp. at this time of year it's hard to take.

  • It's amazing how a little sleep can get rid of the BAH HUMBUGS!  I know whatyou mean about the crazies in the stores.  We braved about 20 minutes of THE MALL yesterday, barely escaped with our lives

  • I'm just not into ANY of it this year.  Period!

  • hope youre feeling better  if nothing else ..fighting in the stores always makes you glad to get home!!

  • and what is with the stores having like 2 people on checkouts at this time of year!! Ive experienced the same thing and it drives me NUTS *aaagggghhhh*

  • I'm really apprehensive about this Christmas, but at least I know we'll have one. We did NOT in 2001... thanks to the brother "in-law"
