Happy Tuesday to all . . .
I hope you guys are having as good a day as I am. I don't know if it's because the weather is exceptionally nice today - or it's because I know I'm going home on Friday - but things are definitely going well today.
Mom and Dad are going out to a Christmas party with the other deacons from their church, so my Aunt Pat and I are "in charge" for the evening. My Aunt Pat is a complicated character. She and Madeline have maintained a Love/Hate relationship for years. Just when it looks like they are going to bury the hatchet, they miss and start chopping each other again.
Does anyone remember the character from the movie "Steel Magnolias" played by Shirley McLaine? She has a line that perfectly describes Aunt Pat - "I'm not crazy, I've just been in a very baad mood for forty years."
When I was a small child - preschool aged - Aunt Pat lived next door to us. I loved to slip over to her house while my Mom was cooking, cleaning, tending the baby etc. She and I were buddies. She called me MoonDoggy, I called her RagMop. We danced to her 45's, watched Dark Shadows, and drank coke with peanuts floating in it.
She used to read to me for hours on end and would play with my hair and dress me up with make-up. then Aunt Pat got pregnant. The pregnancy almost killed her and the delivery was so horrendously botched up that she was unable to have anymore children.
She had a long difficult recovery and raised the single most spoilt child I've ever seen. I love him, he's my cousin and all that, but he WAS totally rotten, not to mention, once she had the little monster, Aunt Pat didn't have time to be my buddy anymore.
Nowadays, Aunt Pat is looking a lot older than she has a right to. She moves slow and has to be careful of her heart. This afternoon we made cookies (again)! And tonight we are going to soak our feet and give each other pedicures. Girl fun.

Yes, I most definitely do remember Weezer. Damn funny, damn realistic character from that film, and somebody I'd be glad to call my friend. Glad you know her.
Ok - If she is Wheezer then I get to be Clarie!!
Great story thanks for sharing it. I hope you enjoy your visit with your Aunt.
