Some Notice Would have been Nice
Thanks to the support of many of you, I reached my goal of 100,000 credits. I logged in on Saturday and attempted to use them to purchase Xanga Lifetime. Instead of Lifetime, I got a message saying thank you for my purchase of ONE MONTH and a deduction of 4,000 credits from my total. I emailed Xanga requesting that this be rectified. Today, I received a polite reply informing me that Xanga no longer offers Lifetime for credits. I could purchase 1 month, 6 months or 12 months, but not the Lifetime that I’ve been working toward for the past 9 months.
I thought it would be more fun to “earn” Lifetime this way than to buy it. I was wrong. This isn’t fun at all. This in fact is a really nasty feeling like I’m the gullible kid who finds herself naked at the prom while everyone laughs. I’m not the kind of person to have a hissy fit and leave when things don’t go my way. But I think it’s fair to express my disappoinment.

That’s crap! I feel a letter writing campaign to Xanga coming on. I’ll stand around naked at the prom with you
.
@abbylyne - Bless you! HUG HUG HUG HUG HUG
That really sucks and seems totally unfair!
What the? This seems like what happened to Ralphie in a Christmas Story when he got the secret decoder and the message he decoded turned out to be: ”Buy more Ovaltine.” Pffffffft. Lame-o. Grrrrrrr.
what a crock! let’s petition xanga.
Came over from maayana’s rec. That sucks-especially as I was working toward that goal myself. They could have at least given us some warning.
I understand it was a recent change in policy, but I could be mistaken.
That is very disappointing, and I know you put a lot of time into the site to earn that many credits. I’m sorry!
well boo on xanga!
100,000 credits is quite an accomplishment. i’m working towards 15,000 and it seems to be taking fooooreeeeverrrrr.
they took xanga *life* away once before, quite a while back. then brought it back again. so, maybe if we petition them, they’ll do so again. hang on to those credits.
THAT SUCKS LIKE A HOOVER 20000! jeepers, i think i gave you half those credits!! that was work!
xanga is stoopid!
you should get everyone to vote for and recommend this blog!
HOLY SHEEP!!! that’s a crock of sheep, if ya ask me!
well, it could be worse…you could have been stuck in an oven for Thanksgiving….
WHAT??? i think we should be allowed to VOTE on this!!! This is AMERICA!
OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!
CALL IN THE TROOPS!!!!
where do i vote??
FRUITCAKE?????? BLECH!!!!!!
Oh I’m soooooo sorry about that. Ya know, I noticed it like 3 weeks ago when I was telling a friend of mine about my credit goals (right now I’m just trying to make sure I can get 4,000 a month to keep premium active). I told him I began it as a lifetime within 100 days goal, but that turned out to not be as possible as I thought due to the screen outs and crap with surveys. I totally understand why Xanga would take away the Lifetime purchase option using credits. I mean, they’ve gotta make money SOMEHOW, and the lifetime purchase is a great bargain even if you have to pay cash. (Remember when they took away Lifetime purchases away all together??) Actually, I think it’s pretty cool that they started offering premium purchases using credits in the first place. It allows people like me to be able to afford to have it. But, I think they should have made an announcement or something. People could have really hussled their butts and asked friends to donate to their cause one last time before it was taken away completely. If anyone on Xanga deserves to have Lifetime without out of pocket cost, YOU do! Once this whole “petition” thing is organized, tell me where to go and what to do to make my vote count/voice heard and I will definately support the cause! <3 SuZ
I am disappointed with you.
I do think if they were going to change the policy it would have been fair to let people know.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr That makes me so angry !
Okay, this shocks me, too. How can Xanga not have said anything earlier?!
@spazmom40 - You did give me a LOT of points, thousands. Thank you. It just seems to me that since they can throw up an add on our private pages for those surveys that no one qualifies for, all the new group sites, and everything else, they could have put some notice up somewhere. It doesn’t seem that I’m the only one who’s surprised.
My premium was due to run out on the 10th, but when they reversed my order from the weekend, it took away what was left of my premium so I used a portion of the credits to do Xanga for a year.
You know, when Xanga first introduced premium and started begging people to sign up to pay their bills, I signed up. I have paid for my own premium for the past 7 years, and I’ve also paid for premium more than once for other people. Xanga hasn’t lost money having me as a subscriber. They can look at my records as easily as I can. They know this.
I’m glad I decided not to get into all that credits stuff now. After trying dozens of times, I realized that for some reason I’m not worthy enough to qualify for any of their surveys. Xanga could have at least announced their intentions to change things – after all in the magical world of blogs – they’re not the only game in town. After treating those who worked so hard for nothing, I think I’ll just continue with my cheapo freebie Xanga.
Wow…….10,000……….very proud………hugs.
you’re not the only one i know who’s been saving for lifetime using credits and i think they should at least let us know when they will end a policy like that. sigh! it does take away some of the fun! i blog on another site where the whole purpose is to collect credits and you can use them to buy all kinds of things. plus they give them to you for being visited the most, having the most unique footprints, etc. i don’t have time to play there often, but it’s a ton of fun! xanga needs to remember that this place is about fun and community!
dang! i was going to do that, too. maybe by the time i get there, you guys will have shamed some sense into the folks at xanga…
Shame, shame on xanga….I’m thinking the Grinch has stock big time in the company!
Well that’s crappy. Yeah, I’d say some notice would have been nice. You could have opened a lemonaide stand instead of fevorishly earning less useful credits.
DId you message John?
I am sorry this happened but Xanga is usually upfront about things and works with us as much as possible.
I hope they fix this for you.
Yeah – that’s really pissy. I’m only 40% of the way to what was once my goal, but it’s the same goal. I hope they change the policy so you can have your Lifetime and maybe I’ll be able to earn mine. That’s really upsetting!
What? And I put down such informative posts too. LOL Thanks for the tip because I was doing that saving up too. Sigh* here you go an expensive mini!
That doesn’t seem fair at all. You’re right, there should have been an announcement or something.
That sucks.
yeah, I think a lot of people have been working towards this. I bet there’ll be a petition on someone’s site in the near future that’ll get a lot of feedback, if I have any sense for Xanga trends like I used to.
I won’t spend another minute on their freakin survys. No fair! no Fair! No fair. Why would they do that during the season of giving. It is an antisocial policy. I am going to facebook.
After working so hard for so long and getting others to help this is the pitts. I agree there should have been some kind of notice and a possible deadline for those that were as close as you to at least have a chance before stopping it.
I know what you mean, I noticed that 100K lifetime was no longer available and found it pointless to even bother trying to hoard my credits. I’m trying for 25K now after I spent 20K for a new xanga name so I can get premium for a year
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!! I was saving up, too!!! NOT FAIR, NOT FAIR!
so sorry for your loss …
~whatever!
i’m still gonna give YOU all my credits!!
Well I would have had a hissy fit; do men have those?
I’m sorrry, Uncle Jim
why not just use tokens to buy a year for now. That will last you 12 months
I got here on a recommend. Sorry to hear about your frustration. I agree; it’s just wrong. I too, was saving for lifetime. Dang it.
