Got the Letter
I was denied medical insurance because of my weight.
I'm too fat.
I wonder what they would have said if I'd tried to apply before I lost the hundred pounds ...
The thing that keeps me on the brink of being drpressed about all this is that it FEELS like I've made monumental effort and acheived great things and they aren't enough. Just when I think I'm about to get there, the bar gets raised.
Save 25% of your annual income - that's not enough.
Lose 40% of your body weight, you're still too fat.
If you'll excuse me, I think I hear a chocolate bar calling my name.

My brother and I are talking about the state of the union in general and have come to the same conclusion. *sigh* I still remain hopeful.
so unfair!!!!!
i can't believe you've lost so much already! i'm impressed!
Can they really deny you because of weight? Can that be appealed? Just curious as it sounds so very wrong. *sigh* **double hugs**
Just keep plugging away, it'll all come together eventually:)
I'm so sorry to hear this! I think it is totally unfair!!! Discrimination!!! Ugh!
Insurance companies make me so mad!! I'd start ranting, but I better not. It won't help you any.
Much MUCH more important than those jerks is this...You are amazing! PLEASE know that what you have accomplished is SO GREAT and wonderful!!!! I applaud you!!! Don't let those jerks make you feel bad!!! You are an inspiration to so many people!!!
Hugs, C.
PS...wish I could hug you in person.
Hang in there. Hope you found some good chocolate.
Don't give up keep applying to different insurances. Ryc: I do not believe that you do not take risks after your move to a new city and finding solutions for your children. You are one of the bravest women I know. Love you, Judi
Ugh!
You know you are not your bank account or your weight. You are not a number and you are not the disappointment or the frustration you're feeling right now. You are enough.
That being said...this all stinks. Big time. I'm so sorry.
I want to break that raised bar in two!
Man, health insurance in this country is a vast racket. I'm so sorry to hear this.
is this blog entry really worth another 1000 eprops??
MORE?!?!?!!?
do you feel famous!
can they really do that?
guess what? dark chocolate is actually good for you! I can show you statistics if you wish...I eat it every day and have for the past 20 years and I weigh 105 lbs. You Rock!!!
hugs,
sage
Hi, I don't know you well, but I can imagine that this is a blow. Please don't let it discourage you. Keep trying, keep making healthy strong choices. Insurance companies are more interested in profits than they are in helping people get healthy and keep healthy, no matter what their advertisements tell you.
As has been pointed out, you are not your bank account or your weight. Dark chocolate is good for you and it is the mission statement of every health insurance company to find a reason NOT to pay; thus they exclude. Medicare does the same thing. They just write "not medically necessary" on the statement and hang you with the bill. Bastards!
I'm so tired of how everything has become so corporatized that everything has become completely unreasonable!
Stop listening to the hype and remember you are better than what they think of you & appeal those biggoted bozos until you get some satisfaction!
And we all need to write Xanga about getting a "Load of Crap" mini added to the list!
Well - here!
Oh! But you don't need that! have a smile instead!
I am so sorry. That's just wrong.
Goal-achievement is over-rated anyway.
Oh my God, I didn't know that they could do that. Can you join a group? I thought group insurances couldn't discriminate on the individual??? These are scary times. I hope you are able to find insurance.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot
Even auto insurance companies offer "high risk" insurance.
*hug!!* I hate insurance companies. They'll deny you coverage or refuse to pay after you've faithfully paid your premiums for years when you finally do need them.
Here's to your continued good health!
Hi...
Thanks for stopping by my site... sorry it gives you trouble : (
Good Post!
Chocolate fixes everything!
^ ^ Spaz has spazed out! ^ ^ : )
Have a great day
Well my P.E. teacher always says to me that I'm underweight every year. I don't know why, as I always eat lots.
Juanita
*hugs*
"..it FEELS like I've made monumental effort and acheived great things and they aren't enough."
I know exactly what you mean...
You have GOT to be kidding me. My sister has been obese all her life and she is healthier than I am. She takes no blood pressure or cholesteral medicines, no heart pills, no diabetes. Stay on your course, m'dear. You're a winner.
It really should be against the law to refuse anyone medical insurance. Medical care should be a constitutional right.
